
Following a setback in his ankle rehabilitation, Alexander Zverev withdrew from the Davis Cup
Alexander Zverev has announced that he would not be participating in the Davis Cup because of his ongoing ailment.
The German rolled his right ankle against Rafael Nadal in the semifinals of this year’s French Open, causing severe ligament damage that required surgery.

In his team’s pre-tournament news conference, however, Zverev said he would be missing “weeks or months not days” of action due to a bone issue that “causes him a lot of agony.”

Kohlmann remarked, “The fact that Alexander can’t play is really terrible for him and for us.” Given his importance to our team, his absence will make it more difficult to reach the Malaga final.
