Indonesia will be competing in the ICC World Cup for the first time in their history
ICC World Cup : Indonesia is the newest team to sign up for the 2019 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.
The Indonesian women secured their qualification to the T20 World Cup for 2019 with a dramatic victory against Papua New Guinea.
In the last over, with PNG needing just two runs to win, 18-year-old bowler Ayu Kurniartini showed steely grit.
After taking two wickets in the first two balls of the last over, Kurniartini sealed the victory and secured qualification for the ICC World Cup for the first time in the history of the Indonesian women’s cricket team.
Wesikaratna Dewi, the Indonesian captain, was overjoyed with the outcome and is looking forward to the future.

Dewi gushed, “I am extremely delighted and proud of the team. I still can’t believe we made it this far, but we’re motivated to represent Indonesia proud in the World Cup now that we’ve finally here.
In a thrilling best-of-three series, Papua New Guinea’s Dika Lohia was named both the tournament’s top bowler and player. In Game 2, she finished with 5/8, including a match-winning five-wicket haul, and also contributed 25 runs without being dismissed, helping her team win the match.
As a result of their hard work, the Persatuan Cricket Indonesia (PCI) has come a long way toward realizing its goal of creating “an Indonesia sport unifying the country via international achievement that inspires national pride.”
“We have worked extremely hard to reach to this level and this signifies a new milestone for women’s sport in Indonesia,” stated Acting Chairperson of PCI Abhiram Singh Yadav. In South Africa, we’ll finally be able to exhibit the world our distinctive Indonesian fashion and culture.
“The dramatic end to this tournament has closed off a wonderful week in Bali, Indonesia, showcasing the finest of women’s cricket in the East Asia-Pacific area,” said Rob Gomm, ICC Tournament Director. I’m certain that Papua New Guinea can learn and improve from this, and I hope Indonesia has a great World Cup in South Africa.
